Comparison of seismic fragility of special moment frames in recent editions of ASCE 7 and ACI 318 regulations

چکیده

The seismic safety levels provided by the three most recent editions of ACI and ASCE regulations for new moment frame structures are determined. Five special RC frames having 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 stories designed separately based on 318-99, 318-05, 318-11, associated UBC 97, 7-05, 7-10. A suit 10 consistent earthquake records is selected non-linear dynamic analysis buildings. Incremental conducted, corresponding fragility curves calculated. comparison results shows that buildings has considerably improved from 318-99 to 97 7-10, owing its larger part improvements made in two latter versions mentioned building codes. However, enhancement not uniform much less with fundamental periods, especially periods than 1.0 sec. For smaller 1 sec, collapse ratio increased up more 70%. increase 20%. Changes ASCE7 regard R-factor coefficients load combination equations introduction stricter requirements allowable story drift pinpointed be important factors. codes, regarding confinement plastic hinges configuration longitudinal reinforcement recognized influential changes.

Seismic Fragility Assessment of Special Truss Moment Frames (STMF) Using the Capacity Spectrum Method

Fragility curves represent the probabilities that structural damages, under various levels of seismic excitation, will exceed the specified damage states by means of earthquake intensity damage relations. Conceptual aspects related to seismic vulnerability, damage and risk evaluation are discussed first, together with a short review of the most widely used possibilities for the seismic evaluati...

assessment of deep word knowledge in elementary and advanced iranian efl learners: a comparison of selective and productive wat tasks

testing plays a vital role in any language teaching program. it allows teachers and stakeholders, including program administrators, parents, admissions officers and prospective employers to be assured that the learners are progressing according to an accepted standard (douglas, 2010). the problems currently facing language testers have both practical and theoretical implications but the first i...

Seismic fragility assessment of RC moment resisting frame buildings designed for different editions of Iranian seismic design code

Background and objective: Developing fragility and vulnerability functions are important tools in seismic reliability assessment of buildings and are widely used in regional seismic risk studies. To date sufficient studies for developing analytical fragility functions for Iranian code-conforming buildings have not been carried out. Performing such studies are necessary to assess the adequacy of...
